Lumiere Festival in Durham
Last weekend I went to the most incredible event in Durham - the Lumiere Festival. The event, which ended on Sunday, featured 27 light installations including the most beautiful one that was beamed onto the marvellous Durham Cathedral. Right, enough talk - just take a look...

Qbic Hotel Launch
So I have BIG news. Over the past month or so I have been helping my team plan the launch of a new hotel in East London, just off Brick Lane. Yesterday was opening night.
Now this new hotel is something really special; mainly because its affordable (approx £59 per night), its the first one in London (they originated in Amsterdam - so it has that sort of Dutch vibe) and it is in East London - am I drawing you in? hope so.
About 24 hours ago my friend Dom and I left work. We jumped on the District Line and in a hop, skip and a jump we had arrived at Aldgate East. With a small amount of confusion (Dom and I aren't very good at going East) we strolled up the main street with hope and expectation in our eyes, and thankfully in five minutes we had arrived.

The really refreshing thing about this hotel is it is rich in character AND MORE IMPORTANTLY it helps the local community. Qbic involves old and new companies such as FoodCycle, Pip and Nut, Rinkoff Bakery, Paul Rhodes and Rubbies In The Rubble, among many others, getting them involved in all things East and Foodie (they all have a fantastic story so please check out their sites).
The panel show began once people had gathered. Here journalists asked foodies about, well food obviously, and the East End.

At about 10pm we grabbed as many yummy goodies as our bags could carry and headed out into the wintry darkness.
If you are in London anytime soon, I would really suggest hitting up the coolest new hotel - Qbic Hotel London City - perfect for an affordable business stay or if like me you fancy playing edgy for a night in the east end of London.
